Guyra had found their feet in the previous two matches, beating fellow top four sides Warialda and Tenterfield and set their sights on a Uralla team with three consecutive victories.
It was the visitors who took an early 10-nil lead via tries to Brad Waters and Rodney Bull before Uralla hit back with three tries to claim an 18-10 lead at half-time.

The opening stages of the second session saw a 12-man Guyra hit back with a four-pointer to Ben Vidler.
Uralla extended their lead late to 24-16 in the half but Guyra managed to get within two points with just minutes left on the clock through a converted try to Brock Laybutt.
The Tigers held on to take a 24-22 win.
Despite only missing out by two points, Guyra coach Anthony Dittman said it was a disappointing performance.
“We was always knew it was going to be a tough game but we just didn't turn up like we have in the previous games,” he said.
“Nothing seem to come together and we lost our structure a bit.
“We gave away a lot of back-to-back penalties which hurt us. We know we are a better side we just need to put it together.”
In the league tag, with just one player on the bench, the Spudettes took on the undefeated Uralla. While they stuck it to the Tigers, the Guyra team went down 32-6.
