It will be a tough challenge for Guyra for the first round of 2018 with a two day match against reigning premiers Hillgrove.
It has been a difficult introduction to two day cricket for Guyra who played runner’s up Easts in the first round.
While they didn’t secure a win in the one day matches either, the side built momentum and put together their most promising total of 152 in the first innings of the Easts encounter.
Most of the Guyra side hadn’t experienced the longer format before and captain Charlie Keen said it was a valuable learning curve for the team.
Having experienced the first of our two day games against Easts, we have a lot more of an idea of how important that first day can be.

“The first rounds of fixtures were a great learning curve for the Guyra side and all we've done each week is improve with the bat and ball,” he said.
“Having experienced the first of our two day games against Easts, we have a lot more of an idea of how important that first day can be.”
The Hillgrove game will be split over January 13 and 20.
The two sides haven’t clashed since October when Guyra made their return to first grade.
“We haven't played Hillgrove since the first round so it should be very interesting to see how we go,” Keen said.
“Whether Guyra bat or bowl first, we need to show some fight right from the start.”
Guyra senior cricket coordinator Adrian Cameron echoed the captain’s comments and believes patience will be the key to landing the elusive victory.
“The boys took a lot out of the Easts game, it was their first two day game and they got 150-something in the first innings which was their highest score for the year,” he said.
“Just patience was the biggest thing and it has been our thing all year but it will come.”
Both sides will be missing players this weekend but have handy depth ready to suit up.
“We have Damielle from the Barbarians, he has signed with us now so that will give us a bit more patience with the batting - he is a pretty quality player,” Cameron said.
