DK dominated the early stages but didn’t get on the scoreboard until late in the opening half.
“Sam Constance got a goal in the 44th minute, right on the stroke of half-time so that was pretty handy going into the break,” coach Evan Quaife said.
“The second half, they scored 1-all, probably a little bit against the run of play.
"[With] 10 minutes to go, we got a very well constructed goal I thought.
“We came from our own half there and in three passes we put it into the back of the net.
“Cal MacGregor put a lovely ball through to Cody Watts, a couple of touches, then he ripped a beautiful ball across the face of the goal and Reece Burton got there from midfield and snapped it in with his left foot.
“It was a really well taken goal I have to say.”
Quaife was impressed with the side’s final five minutes and said his team did not let their opponents “get a sniff” of equaling the score.
“We deserved to win and got the points but in saying that it was a very hard contested game but we were probably the better team on the day anyhow,” he said.
“It was just a tough game against North Companions, good football though by both teams.”
DK take on Inverell this week in an away game but will be missing a host of players through injuries and suspension.
Quaife said he will be calling upon the club’s depth to cover the vacant positions.
A concern for Quaife earlier this season was the side conceding penalty goals every week.
