A Year 9 student at Guyra Central School, Savannah has made it into the ranks of Featured Dancers in her first Schools Spectacular.
She combines this honour with being selected onto the State Schools Ballet Ensemble.
“Being selected means a great deal to me because it is such a wonderful opportunity for somebody from a small rural community,” Savannah said.
“With this opportunity I am able to extend my knowledge and also become a better dancer.
“When you come together (with the best dancers in the state) you are challenged and pushed to become even better.”
Savannah praised Guyra Central School for the support and encouragement they continue to offer and how they have assisted her in securing a place as a headliner in the Schools Spectacular.
Schools Spectacular Executive Producer Jane Simmons told the Featured Artists and Dancers and their families at the announcement ceremony that this year’s show is more than living up to its theme: Dream Big.
“We are really dreaming big,” Ms Simmons said.
“Schools Spectacular is now recognised as a State Significant Event which certainly says a lot about our public school system, the talents of our students and the quality of the dedicated teachers and staff who nurture students to achieve their dreams.”
In terms of sheer size, scale and scope, the Schools Spectacular is unequalled in the world.
More than a hundred thousand public school students have now benefited from the opportunity to be a part of the Schools Spectacular.
Thousands of public school teachers have provided creativity, inspiration and guidance.
Hailing from metropolitan, rural and remote regions of NSW, students of various ages, cultures, skills and socio-economic backgrounds have all auditioned in the hope of being selected to perform in this iconic event.
QUDOS Bank Arena will be the brand new home of the Schools Spectacular which will take place on Friday November 25 and Saturday November 26.
