The executive was elected unopposed. Dot Vickery (President), Robyn Jackson (Vice-president), Shelley Harvey (Secretary), and Dell Healey (Treasurer) continue to support the organisation in their elected roles.
"The Hub at Guyra is looking towards a year of build and rebuild," co-ordinator Chris Hietbrink said.
They await the outcome of their tender process for additions and renovations to the council-owned building.
The exciting plans, Mrs Hietbrink said, include thermal designs of the office space for service providers to see local clients; a new computer room, reception desk, and waiting area; a board room; a large room suitable for classes and community gatherings; and a kitchen, laundry, and north-facing deck.
The proposed modern disability facilities include an adult change table - the only one on the New England Highway between Brisbane and Newcastle. Once this is completed, Guyra's neighbourhood centre would be included on a national register.
"Families and carers of adults with a disability plan their trips based on stop-off points for rest stops," Mrs Hietbrink said.
"We envisage an increase in visitors to Guyra - which will support not only the organisation, but also the businesses in Guyra."
The Guyra Community Garden Inc., which the Hub at Guyra has auspiced, will officially transfer its infrastructure to the neighbourhood centre. The garden will be dismantled before the construction works begin, and rebuilt once they are finished.
When the build is completed, Mrs Hietbrink said, the Hub at Guyra will advise the community. The organisation will seek participation in both the neighbourhood centre and in rebuilding the garden.
"During this crippling drought, the Hub at Guyra is supporting our farmers, contractors, and farm workers," Mrs Hietbrink said.
The Hub has CWA foodpacks and Share the Dignity packs available, as well as information about drought assistance.
"For more information on what benefits you can access, and how we can help you, please drop in Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 2pm. We welcome everyone to our space at 160 Bradley Street, Guyra."
