Jayen Henry Dunn will spend at least 18 months behind bars for the armed hold-up at Freddy’s Liquor Store on January 19.
The then 18-year-old was arrested by Armidale detectives four days after the robbery of the store on Queen Elizabeth Dr, and charged with other incidents.
He pleaded guilty to robbery armed with offensive weapon and appeared in Armidale District Court for sentencing.
Judge Jeffery McLennan backdated the sentence to July, and found special circumstances, meaning Dunn will be eligible for parole in January, 2019.
According to court documents, Dunn entered the store after 9.30pm and brandished a knife at the employee.
He stole more than $900 in cash as well as four packets of cigarettes valued at $120 while armed with a knife.
Dunn also stole a bottle of rum and a bottle of whiskey – both valued at $60 each.
