The gelding surged home for a narrow win, his fifth in 61 starts for the Grills Racing Guyra stables.
“It was a great day. ‘Dusty's Felt’ finished a close second and ‘Our Blevic’ finished second too," said Paul Grills.
Both horses were ridden by apprentice jockey Jodi Worley.
"Ian Cook trains ‘Our Blevic’. We brought him over with us. He's a nice horse.
"Kingston Time has also won at Grafton before. He won here almost two years ago, the day we got married," Grills said of his memorable wedding day.
‘Kingston Time’ won narrowly from favourite ‘Malleable’ with Sue Grills' ‘Couperin’ a gallant third.
‘Kingston Time’ is owned by Paul's wife Angela, their niece Renee Bourke, Michael Jackson and Geoffrey Bell.
Early on the weekend, Paul Grills took ‘Luna Lang’ to Armidale where the 5 year old bay gelding finished a good third in the Cl3 1400m.
"He was racing a class above himself but showed plenty of style," Grills said.
‘Kingston Time’ and ‘Luna Lang’ will have their next start in Armidale on Tuesday, December 9.
