Armidale Regional Council hands over keys to the University of New England Study Hub in Guyra

Cr. Tiley said the new facility, which is replacing the previous ageing building, will ensure that residents of Guyra and surrounding regions continue to have access to support and study facilities to pursue tertiary education without leaving Guyra.

"Council is pleased to have been able to provide this space to UNE to remove barriers to higher education study in Guyra," said Cr. Tiley.

The new $143,260 project was completed at the end of January, and allows the study centre to be better accessed from Bradley Street. The new building also includes an extra room to enhance the learning experience of those using the facility.

Vice-Chancellor and CEO of UNE, Professor Brigid Heywood said that the new study space supports UNE's commitment to creating opportunity for regional Australia by providing support that matches student needs wherever they are on their higher education journey.

"Providing support to remote, rural and regional students and creating a locus where they can be part of a peer community is the key to success," Professor Heywood said.

"We want everyone to be able to access the education they need to be a part of the workforce of the future and make a positive difference in their communities.

"I am proud to add the new re-furbished Guyra Study Hub to our extensive list of 20 Study Centres and Country Universities Centres in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. "
