It was an event that seemed not to have enough food outlets as long queues were experienced, but many who attended said the wait was worthwhile.
"It's a fabulous gathering of Armidale people enjoying the late evening sunshine on a summer's day," council chief executive officer Susan Law said.
"It's a something new, and a great event.
"I think these sorts of events are what make Armidale very special. They're an opportunity for Armidale people to come together."

Mrs Law said council funded and organised the event's launch, and was very grateful for Tattersalls Hotel's involvement as well as all the participating food vendors.
"Our staff have been heavily involved in getting the various stalls out and helping people to be able to set up here," she said.
"I would hope there is a future for this, because I think we've got some of the best produce in the region here.
"From the best of the Wagu beef to Yabbies through to the best of the horticultural activities that happen here - and what a great place to showcase it."
It is hoped the Twilight Food Market will expand to become a popular, monthly event with more stalls and bigger crowds to enjoy the late-summer/early-autumn weather.
