UNE will hold a new "block party" on Sunday, February 23 to bring the University's staff and student community together with the wider Armidale community.

CommUNE, a brand new event, will bring together Armidale community, new and returning students, and staff. The evening will feature food, family-friendly activities and entertainment.
Guests can arrive from 3pm onwards. The festivities kick off at 3:30pm with a welcome address from the Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Innovation, Professor Jonathan Powles, and a Welcome to Country by UNE Elder in Residence, Uncle Colin Ahoy.
Booloominbah Drive will be closed off for the occasion, with food and drink vendors, a jumping castle for the kids, live music on stage and giant games for the young and the young at heart.

Oorala and the UNE Mosque will open their doors to the public and have food and entertainment available throughout the evening.
On stage activities will also include an Aboriginal smoking ceremony, a science magic show presented by UNE lecturers, theatre sports and "Shakespeare in the Carpark" by UNE theatre students.
The evening will close with Live Music from internationally renowned reggae band The Strides. UNE radio station Tune FM will also provide music at the event.
CommUNE is designed to show off the UNE campus as a welcoming public space, providing our new students an opportunity to truly get to know their university town and neighbours.
Most importantly, the event aims to celebrate the diversity of the Armidale community as a whole and give the Anaiwan people the opportunity to officially welcome patrons to their country.
