Armidale's 2019 Relay for Life was aiming to raise $40,000. The final figure will come in a lot less than that, but Cancer Council NSW community relations coordinator for the New England Area Tracey Cullen said she was delighted with anything over $30,000, and with more donations due, she thought the final figure would be about $35,000.

"Over the weekend $4500 was banked online, and I think that's impressive," she said.
"That's a lot of donations from individuals. I'm just overwhelmed by people saying 'Tracey that was really great, really friendly, had a great time, when's the next one?'
Even at 2am we had 20 people on the track.

"It was a 24 hour event and there were quite a lot of people out there who wanted to keep one person on the track for their team."
Tracey said there was a lot of heart shown at this year's event and there were some sore legs at the end of it.
Team Blue Moon leader Karina Belford said they will have more to add to the total when she banks her team's final donations. The team has now raised $1800.

"By Friday we'll know if we have reached our goal of $2000, but I think we've got this," she said.
"Got a little bit of sunburn, which was unexpected because we wore hats and all that, but the wind had a lot to do with it because we had extreme wind the whole weekend. It actually bent our gazebo.
"Four of us stayed overnight. It was hard with the wind and rain and all four of us had a stint on our own overnight and we all got rained on."
Karina said the weekend was great, but she was still catching up on some sleep.
