Armidale-based Black Gully Printmakers received $7,736 to purchase re-usable frames and matting for its artists to present their works in a professional manner at public exhibitions. The Re-usable framing was made up of 25 adjustable and re-usable wooden frames, a hanging system and a variety of matt backing to allow artworks to be inserted for exhibition and removed afterwards.

Artist and president of Black Gully Printmakers Lizzie Horne said the funding would give the group of artists a real boost and encourage members to exhibit works.

“Often our artists will exhibit with their print tacked directly onto the wall without framing due to the high cost of having the works mounted,” Ms Horne said.
“We are currently working toward a big exhibition of works to be displayed in NERAM, and inspired by the poetry and writings of Judith Wright called ‘Between the Lines’.
“This system will now mean that the works prepared will be displayed in the best aspect possible and a good frame really makes a huge difference.”
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall was impressed with the framing and thought it was ingenious.
“Art, screen, culture, music and performance are at the heart and soul of regional NSW, and this funding program provides opportunities for locals to enjoy entertaining and educational experiences," Mr Marshall said.
“Importantly it will also provide artists with new opportunities to showcase innovative and quality works and allow visitors to experience a diverse range of arts and activities while generating social, economic and tourism benefits across the state.
“Having an artwork framed and professionally mounted is a costly exercise and this system allows emerging artists to present their work in the best aspect possible without that added expense."
