Peter Mullen, of Integral Health Armidale, was recognised as Practice Manager of the Year England/Northwest.
Having spent the last four and a half years at Integral Health as practice manager, Peter saw the practice host numerous doctors training to specialise as GPs.
“I think the best thing about Integral Health being an accredited training practice and working with registrars is to see their growth in skills and confidence as a doctor over their time with us," Peter said.
“I believe as a practice manager I should be actively involved in the registrars’ development as GPs, particularly in developing their people and management skills.
“I’ve even been privileged to support one of our registrars who undertook additional training in practice management, so as to gain additional non-clinical skills."

There were 45 general practices across New England/Northwest, from Mungindi and Tenterfield down to Quirindi, accredited to train registrars, and GP Synergy Chief Executive Officer John Oldfield said the role of practice managers was immensley important in practices maintaining their training accreditation and in supporting the training of GP registrars.
“In addition to helping registrars navigate the behind-the-scenes workings of general practice, it is often practice managers who help registrars and their families settle into new towns for their training," he said.
