The TAS team came up against Western Sydney-based St. Paul’s Grammar – the school of Australian quick Pat Cummins attended – for their round two clash at home on Wednesday.
The visiting side won the toss and sent TAS into bat with Toby Smith and Dahlia Glennie opening the innings.
Smith was caught out 12 which brought captain Kieran Dennis to the crease.
Glennie was dismissed soon after for 17, followed by Cotter Litchfield on seven.
Christen Taylor then joined Dennis and the duo formed a valuable 38-run partnership with each scoring 39.
When Dennis departed, Kirk stepped up.
Kirk hit 10 fours on his way to 50 runs in the TAS total of 6-183.
St Paul’s managed to put 29 runs on the board before TAS claimed their first scalp.
It was the skipper, Kieran Dennis, who made the breakthrough and sent opener Jeremy Walker for 13.
Litchfield was the next to land a blow to their opponents’ batting line-up, landing the wicket of fellow St Paul’s opener Kyle McDonough.
From there, things became very tough for the visits as their order collapsed.
Litchfield landed another before Kirk earned the first of his four wickets when he cleaned up the stumps of the St Paul’s number three Joe Hiley.
The wickets kept falling for St Paul’s and they were all out for 79, giving TAS a 104-run win.
“We bowled tight at the beginning but then secured five wickets within two overs from Cotter Litchfield and Andrew Kirk, who took three in his first over and four overall,” Dennis said.
“It was a good result for the team and we’re excited for the next round,” Dennis said.
