The Ben Venue boys’ soccer team proved their sporting mettle once again after they were crowned North West champions in a hard-fought regional final win.

The team played the final against Tamworth Public School in the primary schools’ knockout competition on Monday, September 10 with all the points scored in the first-half.
In the opening five minutes both teams had some attacking chances and it was Byron Kollosche who opened the scoring.
Byron scored in the eighth minute after a clever cross ball found him right in front of the goals.
Tamworth hit back just five minutes later.
Ben Venue’s Jordan Marshall quickly gave the home team the advantage again with another excellent cross ball being slotted into the back of the net.
Tamworth were not to be outdone as they put a through ball to their striker who ran ahead of the Ben Venue backs and beat the keeper making the score 2-all.
The see-sawing match continued but Austin Johns was able to score just before half-time putting Ben Venue ahead 3-2.
In the second-half Ben Venue continued to dominate field position.
They had several chances but were unable to score.
In the last few minutes of the second-half Ben Venue had to scramble their defence and repel a number of Tamworth attacks.
Ben Venue managed to hold on and when the final whistle blew they took the victory 3-2.
They will now go on to play their PSSA quarter final against Narranga Public school who are the North Coast champions.
