Kantalli Quinlan was the lone scorer as the Armidale Rams’ defence kept their opponents out to land the 6-nil win in round two of the Group 19 season.
Coach Mike Ware said defence has been the main focus of the side leading into the season and was pleased their work paid off.
“We have been working hard on defence,” he said.
“I said ‘if we are going to be successful this year it is going to be defence and discipline that is going to win us games.’”

While they kept their opponents scoreless, Ware said the Rams’ attack needs to sharpen up with sloppy errors spoiling their point-scoring efforts.
“Our attack, we need to fix that up, especially against the 'Rangs this weekend,” he said.
“It was just hard, there was a lot of dropped ball from both sides and I think it just came down to who wanted it more and our girls wanted it more. We have a few more areas [defensively] we have to fix but with our attack, we have to get the basics down right, complete sets, and I am just trying to teach them how to grind out a win.”
