For about 45 minutes, customers were unable to be served at the supermarket’s cash registers.

Following the meltdown, a spokesman from the local store said it was business as usual for the Beardy Street supermarket when contacted by The Armidale Express late on Monday.

Meanwhile, both Tamworth stores were also affected, and in Inverell some customers left their phone number with Woolworths staff so they could be notified when the cash registers were working again.

Chaos descended around the nation with all Woolworths supermarkets reportedly experiencing a technical issue that prevents them from processing any transactions.

The stores are reportedly all operating again. An official comment has yet to be made by the supermarket giant.
