From a narrow defeat against Oxley Vale Attunga the week before, the Redmen travelled to Northies’ home ground on Saturday and again dominated the opening term. Norths co-coach Scott Freeman said his side were the better of the two teams early on before their opponents hit their straps in the final 45 minutes.
“From what I saw, we actually stuck it to them very well in that first half,” he said.
“Everything worked for us.
“We were playing, we were hitting our feet and we were working for each other and things were really working for us and then half-time came. After half-time they work up and came out.”
The lead changed twice throughout the match with the Redmen making North Companions “work really hard” to earn the 2-all draw.
Freeman highlighted the performance of his defensive players throughout the game.
“They repelled everything that came at them and that allowed the midfield to do what they do,” he said.
This Saturday Norths United host Tamworth FC, who are coming off a 1-nil win against the Mushies.
“We have FC who are absolutely on fire,” Freeman said.
“We always seem to have a really hard tussle against these guys.
“We play well against OVA and we have a hit and miss record there, but FC stick it to us.
“They are really physical, that's why. I don't get excited about too many games but this one I am really looking forward to.”
