Police allege the teenager was involved in two bag snatches last Thursday night on Marsh St and Dumaresq St, stealing handbags from a 48-year-old woman and an 85-year-old woman as they got into their cars.
He’s also accused of grabbing a 28-year-old woman from behind and robbing her of her phone as she walked through the grounds of the University of New England on Meredith St, on the same night.
The 16-year-old is also charged with breaking into a Niagara St house between April 7 and 10, and stealing cash, electronic goods and ornaments.
Following investigations, he was arrested by Armidale detectives at an Edward St property on Friday afternoon.
He’s been charged with aggravated break-and-enter, two counts of steal from a person and one count of aggravated robbery.
He appeared in an out-of-sessions bail hearing in Armidale Children’s Court on Saturday morning where he was refused bail to reappear in court again this week.
Investigations into the incidents are continuing.
