IF you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to ride a water slide almost a third of a kilometre long, you won’t have to wonder much longer.
Armidale Dumaresq Council has announced this year’s Autumn Festival will feature a 315 metre slide brought in and operated by O’Shea’s Slide City Australia.
Mayor Laurie Bishop said the slide was something different that would add a lot of fun to the day.
“The event organisers in Council have tried to find something different every year, to make it a little bit better every year and they came up with this and it sounds fantastic,” he said.
O’Shea’s Slide City Australia owner Brian O’Shea said he expected about 3000 sliders with 12 per cent of ticket prices going back to Council.
Tickets can be purchased online with Mr O’Shea saying spaces would be limited.
The day will be broken into four time slots with between 800 and 1000 per session.
The massive slide will start in Kirkwood Street behind Rugby League Park and finish in Dangar Street.
Meanwhile The Ascent Group has donated $5000 to the running of the Autumn Festival.
Ascent Group Staff will be at the Autumn Festival’s Friday and Saturday markets to listen and provide useful advice to anyone struggling with the drought.
