They won the toss and sent TAS in to bat. The TAS batsmen were consistent and put together a good total on 175 off their 40 overs.
Best of the Guyra bowlers were Brandon Landsborough who took 2 for 23 and Jake Ellis with 2 for 32. Shane Wolfenden, Heath Dowsett and Jake McKay all took a wicket each.
In reply, Guyra’s openers failed to match their recent good form, with Matt Friend caught with the score at just 12. Justin Ryan then joined Brandon Landsborough at the crease and they pushed the score along to 52 before Justin was out.
Brandon compiled another good innings, falling for 52 and Matt Simpson steadied the innings with a good knock of 41.
Tailender Shane Wolfenden’s 20 runs put Guyra within a whisker of the TAS total, before Guyra ran out of batsmen with just three runs needed for victory.
They will be hoping for a better result this week when they come up against Hillgrove Brumbies at Doody Park.
A reminder that the Melbourne Cup Calcutta is on at the Royal Hotel on Monday night November 3. Tickets are available at local business houses and will also be on sale on the night.
This is a major fundraiser for our club so cricketers come along, bring your family and your friends and you may even be lucky enough to win some of the money on offer.
We are hoping to start the prize pool at $1000 and the more punters on the night the bigger the tally.
Be there from 7pm to join in and support cricket in Guyra.
