I AM absolutely outraged that sickening abuse has been inflicted on Australian cattle again in Gaza.

I was equally appalled to see on Lateline that Australian animals in other countries are also still being terribly abused.
Australians are sick of seeing this horrific cruelty continuing year after year after year in an immoral industry that should have ended long ago.
It is outrageous that this shocking abuse in Gaza has happened two years in a row and could have been prevented if the exporter's operating licence had been suspended.
Can you please urgently advise me why exporters who are breaking the rules aren't being prosecuted?
Last year I forwarded a pack to you containing information of over twenty examples of animal cruelty occurring in the Middle East.
Your response was totally inadequate, basically stating that you support the live export trade and how financially important it is to those farmers.
There was nothing in your reply indicating that you would do anything to protect the animals.
Cruelty, cover-ups, corruption. Whichever way you look at it, live export is a crime against animals.
‘Tough Australian regulations’ mean very little when animals are still being beaten, stabbed, and brutalised.
They mean even less when those responsible for cruelty are permitted to reoffend without sanction.
If live export regulations cannot stop animal welfare atrocities from continuing, the answer is simple: the live export trade must end.
I implore you as Minister for Agriculture and my MP to rethink your support of this despicable trade.
