GP registrars from Armidale, Moree, Tamworth and Inverell were put through their paces on Friday and Saturday.
The sessions were held by training provider GP Synergy, with topics including paediatric resuscitation, geriatrics and men’s health.
The sessions were attended by 11 GP registrars, with Armidale’s Yana Martynova just one of the participants.
Director of training Rosa Canalese said the diverse medical issues faced by rural doctors could be daunting to GP registrars.
“One of the most enjoyable aspects of being a GP is the diversity in medical presentations,” she said.
“However, it can also be one of the most challenging, as you need a broad knowledge base and skill set.”
There are currently 39 GP registrars training across the New England and North West region, with five based in Armidale.
