The Premier announced his resignation after the Independent Commission Against Corruption was shown evidence of a thank you card he sent Nick Di Girolamo for a $3000 bottle of wine in April 2011.
He was the latest casualty of the commission.
Only a fool would believe it would not have a negative impact

It has already found Eddie Obeid corrupt and former Northern Tablelands MP Richard Torbay has also been referred to the watchdog.
Yesterday, Mr Torbay maintained his silence.
Meanwhile, Liberal MLC Scot MacDonald said it would be the first time he voted for a leader and would use his vote to benefit the region.
Some names Mr MacDonald said were in the mix for the job included Treasurer Mike Baird and Resources Minister Anthony Roberts.
Mr MacDonald didn’t believe the region would be negatively affected by the changes, but next year’s election was another story.
“Only a fool would believe it would not have a negative impact,” Mr MacDonald said.
