Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) will partner with UNE's student-powered radio station TUNE!FM to support up to 10 young people to complete a Certificate III Screen and Media.
The project will enable TUNE!FM to operate one a day a week from The Youthie, with students mentored by long-time radio manager Tania Court.

"Over the last few years, we've been transitioning our radio station volunteer program into an online model so that UNE's online students can volunteer and gain the communication skills and work experience that Armidale students have exposure to," Ms Court said.
"Because of that work, what we're bringing down to Youthie is not that different from what they would experience coming to us at our Armidale studios."
The program will be run through the Community Media Training Organisation (CMTO), and students will not only learn how to operate industry-standard radio systems and audio editing skills, they will pick up soft skills such as critical thinking and teamwork, to help them land their dream jobs.
Tamworth council's team leader inclusive community Katey Alwell said the program is a first for council, in line with its vision to give the city's youth a greater voice.
"Students will also work with the youth council to create broadcasting content surrounding any issues, topics of interest or concerns coming from youth council meetings each month," she said.
"There will be a platform for their voices to be heard."
The Youthie is perfectly set up to host the program, with a purpose-built sound studio already in place, Ms Alwell said.
"A component of the project will be working with council's RU Volunteering centre to attract experts in media and communications field to help support the screen and media students," she added.
TRC received $200,000 from the NSW government's Office for Regional Youth to make the program possible.
