The Australian Government has awarded Guyra Garden Club $50,000 in federal funding under the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal's award-winning Tackling Tough Times Together program.

Federal Member for New England Barnaby Joyce said the latest round of funding aimed to strengthen the capabilities, connections and wellbeing of local communities like Guyra.
"The Tackling Tough Times Together program has a range of benefits, including reducing social isolation, developing leadership skills, addressing disadvantage, reducing volunteer fatigue and stimulating the local economy," Mr Joyce said.

"This project will boost and strengthen the local economy with the Guyra Spring Flower Festival 2021 including a Memorial Avenue and Mandala Garden to honour service people."
This funding to Guyra Garden Club complements a $10,000 grant under the Australian Government's Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program to install plaques at the base of trees in Guyra Memorial Park to commemorate the service and sacrifice of local defence personnel in all wars, conflicts and peace operations.
Last month Guyra was also awarded $3,885 for the men's shed to purchase a defibrillator, Samsung tablets, tools and equipment, funded through the Australian Government's National Shed Development Programme.
Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud said the Australian Government's $15 million grant to the FRRR Tackling Tough Times Together program helps to rebuild the local economy of drought-affected areas.
"Many of these projects will help enhance community wellbeing and strengthen the local economy," Minister Littleproud said.
"Applications for the next round of the Tackling Tough Times Together program are currently open and I strongly encourage drought-affected areas across remote, rural and regional Australia to apply."
