A WOMAN has been urgently flown to Tamworth hospital after she was struck in the head by a steel gate on Wednesday afternoon.

The 62-year-old woman suffered head injuries when a cow kicked a steel gate at a property east of Armidale, causing the gate to hit the woman in the head.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked form Tamworth, and ambulance paramedics also rushed to the scene at Jeogla at 4pm on Wednesday.

The chopper's critical care team and paramedics treated the 62-year-old woman for head injuries, and stabilised her for transport.
The woman was airlifted to Tamworth hospital for further treatment.
It is understood she was in a stable condition, according to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
