But the bells are about to ring again on a limited basis, starting with the tolling of a single bell at midday on Saturday.

Tower Captain of the St Peter's bellringers, Simon McMillan, said the bell will toll 75 times is to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Pacific (VP Day), ending the Second World War.
He said it would also honour the posthumous award of the Victoria Cross to Ordinary Seaman Edward (Teddy) Sheean, who was killed in action aboard HMAS Armidale on December 1, 1942.
From 9am on Sunday, regular ringing on four bells will resume at the Cathedral - the number being dictated by social distancing requirements.
