Eleven senior soccer teams are set to grace the Consett Davis fields for a two-day carnival.
The Armidale-based clubs will be joined by Guyra and Uralla to battle for the Belgrave Cup as well as a consolation Cup in a round robin competition.
It's been a long time coming for the season to start with the 2020 Sport UNE Football League the first of its kind.
The Sport UNE competition was formed but didn't get off the ground due to the coronavirus pandemic halting all plans.
Sport UNE Football League manager Alan Gray said it has been a long time coming and everyone involved with pulling the competition together can't wait to have players out on the paddock.
"It has been a lengthy commencement of the season," he said.
"All our players are thrilled to get out and about."
Gray is expecting around 200 players will be taking part.
With so many people set to be at the grounds and coronavirus restrictions in place, Gray said officials will be doing their best to ensure protocols are followed.
"All clubs have been made aware of their responsibility as far as social distancing," he said.
"We are taking all precautions that we need to to ensure the safety of our players and spectators."
Each team will place two matches on Saturday, beginning at 1pm and up to four matches on Sunday beginning at 8.45am.
After the winners are known from the first round of matches, teams will then be allocated into the Cup and consolation draws.
