Armidale Regional Council's waste into art competition, promoting an awareness of reducing and the recycling of man-made waste, is open in the old Shanti shop, on the corner of the Mall Arcade from 10am to 4pm on Monday, June 3 until Friday, June 8.

A variety of pieces, all made by school children and community members have been set up in the hopes that they will inspire members of the community to consider alternative ways that their rubbish may be recycled or repurposed.
Entries, including two dimensional, three dimensional or sculpture, furniture/homeware/inventions functional art, textiles and wearable art and building or elements of building or large sculpture (photographic entries only) are now on public display and entry is free of charge.

Competition team leader Hayley Ward hoped members of the public cast a vote on their favourite piece.
"Maybe the exhibition will inspire visitors to create their own unique piece of art," she said.
Members of the public who wish to vote, can do so using voting cards in the gallery. A people's choice winner will be announced at the close of the competition.
