After tough losses to the top two teams in their opening games, the Nomads hit the road to face the Tamworth Kangaroos.
It took until the final quarter but the Nomads managed to clinch the 15.11-101 to 14.6-90 win.
"I thought it was probably one of those games that could have gone either way," player-coach James Treweeke said.
"In the last three or four minutes we managed to sneak two more goals in there which probably helped.
"In the last five minutes, just a few crucial tackles, a few crucial kicks just led to that little bit extra that we got over them.
"All credit to Tamworth, I thought it was definitely one of my top two wins since being here."
Angus Quail continued his leading goal-scoring efforts with six while Dave Richards landed four, Matt Baillie two and Conor Nest with one.
With "10 or 12 blokes still missing" Treweeke called upon some of the club's under-17 players to stand up.
"We had four juniors playing," he said.
"Morgan Dunn has been playing for a while now so he is up to the challenge.
"We had Dylan Moore, first game for us and honestly mid-way through the fourth quarter he laid one of the biggest tackles I have ever seen, on a bloke that was probably three times his size and I thought that was a really big turning point.
"The boys stood up then and thought 'well if he can do it, I can too.'
"It was really good to see the juniors stand up especially under all the pressure they had."
