The National Youth Archery Championships are on in Armidale until Wednesday this week and five from the host town are competing.
As of when The Armidale Express went to print on Tuesday, five gold medals, two silver and one bronze medal had been won by members of the Armidale Archers.
Results aside, Archers club president Yan Laurenson said it has been a huge coup hosting the event.
"It is an enormous thing for the club," he said.
"Getting it to begin with, we are such a small club, is an enormous thing for us.
"Hopefully the exposure we will get will increase our prominence within the archery community."
Around 130 competitors have travelled from across the country and from New Zealand to compete and Laurenson said feedback has been great.
"We have had nothing but positive so far, the cold is the usual thing but apart from that it has been all good," he said.
Laurenson said the competition has been "excellent."
"Our local competitors are doing very well, they have all medalled I believe," he said.
