The restrictions came yesterday, Thursday, February 14, in the midst of a 'boil water alert' which remains in place; after Essential Energy were unable to restore power to the town due to bushfire damage.

Uralla Shire Council were unable to produce treated water as a result. 

Two electricity generators were connected to the raw water pump station on Thursday afternoon, allowing the treatment plant to operate, and restoring both town supply reservoirs to full capacity. The generators will remain throughout the weekend, to avoid any issues with power from the grid.

The water must still be boiled before drinking, washing, cooking or giving to pets due to elevated turbidity and an inability to sustain the required level of residual chlorine. Residents have been boiling their water since the supply was marked as unsafe on January 18.

Bottles of water are being handed out at the Bundarra School of Arts in Bowline Street, and the Bundarra Lions Club will deliver water to elderly locals over the weekend. 

The council were grateful to residents for their efforts in conserving town water in the interim.
