Show Society president Bill Upjohn said the free barbecue meals would be put on in conjunction with the Uralla Neighbourhood Centre, supported by the Uralla Shire Council and funded by the Federal Government’s Drough Communities Assistance Program.
We’ll have steak sandwiches for the adults and sausage sandwiches for the kids.

“Everyone who comes through the gate for the show will get a voucher, which they can take over to the barbecue and get a steak sandwich and it will be a good steak sandwich with onions, coleslaw and all the trimmings. Plus a free soft drink,” he said.
“Every family member will get one. Everything starts at about 8am and it goes right through ‘til midnight and the free meals will be available all day and evening. People who only come in the evening will still get one.”
Bill said there would be a full ring program and lots of entertainment happening on the day.
“It’s the full-on show, with rides and sideshows with the usual show food – and a free lunch,” he said.
“It’s going to be a big one. I’m going through the throes of making sure there is plenty for everyone. I’ve ordered the loaves and fishes and we’ve already started planning for next year’s show.

“Hopefully we’ll get some more new members on the committee to spread the load and make it all happen. We’re always looking for new, younger members; that’s the key to keeping the show going.
Bill said a lot of shows were feeling the pinch, mainly because of the lack of volunteers.
“I need some helpers, particularly for the barbecues since we’re going to be feeding so many people. We need a few enthusiastic barbecue chefs,” he said.
“Oh, and the other thing I am looking for is a couple of RSA qualified bar staff, to just help us ease the load on the bar.”
