Councillors at the Ordinary Monthly Meeting of Armidale Regional Council on Wednesday afternoon retrospectively adopted its controversial Draft 2018/19 Revenue Policy Armidale Regional Airport Fees and Charges, to take affect from July 1, 2018.

At its June 27 meeting, council resolved to defer its decision on the policy until the July ordinary meeting and left the existing fee structure in place. It was was then deferred to the August council meeting to enable further engagement with key stakeholders.
A Memorandum of Understanding regarding landing fees was entered into with General Aviation Businesses at Armidale Regional Airport.

Cr Dianne Gray said she congratulated senior staff, the council CEO and the organisation for businesses at the airport.
"For coming together, working through this and having something on the table that is workable for all parties," Cr Gray said.
Cr Margaret O'Connor said she wanted her comments recorded in the minutes.
"Councillors were requested to not have any conversations with the general aviation people who were subject to this negotiation," she said.
"Cr O’Connor, that is not what we're debating here," said Cr Murray.
Cr Tiley said he had had many approaches about the issue.
"I've had more people give it to me at work about this than anything else, and they don't know the facts," he said.
"They don't know the smallness of this in an overall sense, and I just appeal to the CEO to make sure we get a really good message out when this is adopted."
