A TEENAGER has been charged with break-and-enter after he was allegedly caught inside a home by police.

A witness told police they saw an 18-year-old jump a fence in Canambe Street, Armidale, about 12.45pm on Thursday.

“Police arrived a short time later and detected a man inside the premises and he was detained by officers,” Detective Inspector Joy said.

Police allege the teen claimed he had permission to be in the property, and following investigations, was arrested several hours later and charged with entering a dwelling with intent and goods in custody.

Police said when he was arrested, the teenager was allegedly in possession of a car key and jewellery which they believe is stolen goods.

He fronted Armidale Local Court on Friday and was denied bail to reappear later this month.
