The Uralla-based police officer said he telephoned the party’s state director to resign as the Northern Tablelands candidate for the 2019 state election on Wednesday.
“Being preselected as the Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party candidate for the Northern Tablelands electorate was a great honour,” Mr Good said.

“But I believe that I need to dedicate more time to my own work and family commitments.
“I thank the Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party for their support of my decision.
“I remain passionate about seeing our local area represented in Parliament by somebody who can stand up to the city Liberal Party, and I am happy to assist my replacement in their campaign once a local pre-selection is held.”
The next state election is scheduled to be held on March 23, 2019.
Mr Good, who has been a member of the party for about five years, was announced as the Northern Tablelands candidate earlier this year.
In February, Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party MLC Robert Borsak said the early announcement was sparked by the party’s expectations for Adam Marshall to run for the federal electorate.
"We've heard in Armidale that Adam Marshall plans to run for the federal seat of New England if Barnaby Joyce resigns,” Mr Borsak said.
“That's why we announced our candidate for the state electorate early."
No candidate has been named to fill Mr Good’s shoes yet.
But a spokesman for the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party said the party would choose a new candidate.
“There will be pre-selection held to find a replacement candidate but the date of that is not confirmed yet,” the spokesman told Fairfax Media.
“We will be contesting the seat.”
