The $2700 donation from the New England Quitlers and Patchworkers group will help the everyday operations of the volunteer-run organisation which works to support families with young children in the community.
HCFA members Chris Halligan and Judy Walsh said they were over the moon with the donation, which was handed over on Thursday.
“This will make a big difference to the family and children in the community we help,” Ms Walsh said.
HCFA operate a volunteer home visiting service for local families with children under five-years-old.
“We see ourselves as providing extended family support – a little bit of kindness and support,” Mr Halligan said. “We just try to be as active as possible, and help people in the community.”
New England Quilters and Patchworkers exhibition convener Robyn Wood said the group raised the funds through raffles and entry fees at the annual exhibition.
“We like to be able to help local charities that don’t get the national recognition. It’s lovely for us to be able to put something back into the community,” she said.
The annual event is hosted by New England Quilters and Patchworkers group at Legacy House to raise money for a local charity on the weekend of the Autumn Festival.
The exhibition showcased quilts, cushions, bags, embroideries and knitted toys including bears and dolls.
