And, Uralla Shire Council is behind her, donating $200 to her travel expenses.
Councillor Bob Crouch said he was more than happy to support the student with funding.
“I think it’s great to have someone like this representing Uralla,” he said.
It will be the third time Gemma has taken part in youth parliament, and has previously pioneered youth mental health initiatives.
Gemma said she’s hoping to make new friends this year from across the state.
“I’m also hoping to create a great and hopefully successful Bill with my Family and Community Services committee this year,” she said.
“I was very happy knowing that I was accepted this year, being as it is my third year of participating in this great program.”
The YMCA Youth Parliament and camps will take place thorughout July.
