The six finalists descended on Gunnedah’s Services and Bowling Club from as far away as Port Macquarie and Bellingen to compete for a spot in the Youth of the Year state finals.
Armidale’s Gabriella Parsons claimed the top honour on the night and will move onto the state finals of the Youth of the Year in Bankstown on April 14.
Gunnedah Lions Club president Nev Adams said the competition on the night was fierce.
“It was a terrific night, all of the finalists were very impressive,” Mr Adams said.
“I’m sure it was a very difficult decision for the judges as all of the finalists were excellent.”

Public speaking topics covered a variety of topics including the importance of female role models and animal cruelty.
Mr Adams said Gabriella’s prepared speech helped her get over the line.
“Her speech on immunization was outstanding,” he said.
“Honestly all of the finalists were great and should be very proud of their efforts.”
The Gunnedah Lions Club will now look forward to hosting an incoming officers night in early April.
