A MAN arrested in connection to an alleged armed robbery at an Armidale business and police pursuit near Tamworth did not apply for bail when he appeared in court on Monday.

Robert Paul Atkinson, 45, from Palm Beach, Qld, appeared in Tamworth Local Court where he faced 11 charges following his arrest at a home on the corner of Bligh and Marius streets on Friday afternoon.
Atkinson has been charged with offences including entering a dwelling with intent to steal, using a weapon to commit an indictable offence, Skye’s law and armed robbery, in connection to a series of offences allegedly committed between Tamworth and Armidale.
He made no application for bail during a court appearance before Magistrate Roger Prowse on Monday afternoon. He did not enter any pleas to the charges and a brief of evidence was ordered to be tendered to the court on September 20.
Atkinson is due to return to court on September 27. Detectives from the New England and Oxley Police commands worked together on the investigation.
