SOME will flock to the frenzy of Boxing Day sales.
Others will snooze off their Christmas feasts in front of the cricket.
But for the local die-hard film fraternity, Boxing Day means one thing – the cinema.
While many of us use the day after Christmas as a time of rest and recovery, for others, the fun is only just beginning. Boxing Day is the biggest and busiest day of the year at the Tamworth cinemas, as film lovers line up to watch new releases on the big screen.
Hundreds of locals are expected to file through the doors of Armidale’s Belgrave Cinema, with four new movies being released on Boxing Day.
On Boxing Day, animated movie Sing will be released in Armidale, starring the voices of Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, and follows the story of a koala trying to save a concert hall.
Another family movie is Moana, an animated musical fantasy adventure film about a Hawaiian girl trying to save the world.
And on may kids must-see list is Red Dog True Blue, a prequel to the Aussie classic of 2011.
