Walcha’s Josh Mackaway was awarded the joint winner of Armidale Motorcycle Club’s perpetual trophy at the annual Christmas party and presentation day on Saturday night at the Armidale City Bowling Club.
Mackaway has been riding motorbikes since he was three or four and joined the club when he was five.
He said it was a shock to receive the award.
"It was my first time. It was a highlight of all the years I have been riding. I am really happy with it,” he said.
The award is given to the club’s highest senior pointscorer throughout the year.
Mackaway said the club has helped improve his skills through their training days, competition and endorsements.
"They just help you out whenever they can and everyone in the club just wants to help you out,” he said.
"It is a really good club.”
Daniel Ryan won the club’s Tom Chorley memorial trophy.
