THE REGION’S best swimmers descended on Armidale on July 17 for the annual Alligators’ short course carnival.
The 126 athletes competed in 155 events throughout the day.
The local club’s members were unstoppable on the day claiming 133 medals including 66 gold, 30 silver and one bronze.
Young guns Lucy Fenwicke, Mitch Hayden, Lachie Fittler, Jake Minehan and Jesse Streeting impressed at the carnival, with medals in all of their individual events.
The wins earned them entries in the Brisbane and Sydney state age short course championships in a month’s time.
Lara Moloney scored herself a personal best in the 200 metre freestyle event and sheaved 16 seconds off her entry time.
Iles Baker pulled off a stunning performance in the 200 metre individual medley and took off more than a minute off his personal best.
