The first half started with Guyra controlling most of the possession, with plenty of goal opportunities that weren’t taken advantage of. The chances kept flowing and it wasn’t until Corby Kliendienst once again took Guyra into the lead with a goal from inside the box.
DK holding Guyra to a minimum was short lived when Dan Lennon, performing in the backs, cemented his spot in the team sending a ball down the sideline which sent Corby through for his second of the match to make it 2-0.
As half time approached, DK had their first opportunity on goal with a penalty inside the box, seen by many as a fair tackle. Nonetheless, DK hit back and the score was 2-1 going into half time.
Guyra started the second half at the Knights’ pace , although possession continued in Guyra’s favour with sharp patches throughout the midfield with Darcy Jackson and the help of the backs Austin Youman, Dan Lennon, Brodie Harman and Mat Simpson.
More goal opportunities arose and Guyra were unlucky not to have a few more in the bank. It wasn’t until the persistence of the forwards and control through the midfield which saw Darcy set a ball through that was cut back and some fine control by the Corby, the goal scoring machine, to run rings around the defence and knock yet another goal in, sealing the victory 3-1.
Big thanks to Brodie Harman, Ashley Holt, Mason Harman and Dan Lennon who came up and filled in for first grade. The three points were close with Dan Lennon and Corby Kliendienst hard to split. The boys are keen to be at their absolute best and continue the roll on to get a very important win over a sharp undefeated TAS team up in Guyra.
