The Redmen’s 1-all draw last weekend came at the hands of Oxley Vale Attunga.
“To be honest they are one of the teams to beat,” Lennon said.
“But we still just aren’t quite there.
“We need to start knocking these teams over.
“That’s three draws now, if we’re going to contend these are the teams we need to beat.”
Lennon has been satisfied with North’s midfield play, it’s either end of the field that needs urgent improvement.
“We aren’t far away from where we need to be, so we will just keep working,” he said.
“We get the ball into good areas, but we are not taking our opportunities.
“Taking a bit of ownership at the back is something that we need to work on too.”
The situation doesn’t get any easier for the Redmen this weekend with Inverell’s Joeys FC coming to town for a top of the table clash.
Joeys lead the northern conference by three points after a perfect four wins from four matches to start to the season.
However the Redmen can join them at the top with a win tomorrow at Phil Wheaton Oval.
“These are the games we want to be playing,” Lennon said.
“It will be a good challenge for us.”
Joeys’ attacking prowess has been too much for their opponents so far this season and it’s one area Lennon and his men have focused on stopping at training this week.
“They get forward very quickly,” he said.
“In saying that we know how we want to play and what we want to do and that’s what we will be concentrating on.”
The Redmen are edging closer to having a full squad available for selection, but Lennon insists he still doesn’t know the make-up of his best 11.
“We don’t know what full strength is yet,” he said.
“We have great depth in the club and some great youth coming through.”
The only other match in the northern conference sees South Armidale host Demon Knights at the Armidale Sportsground.
East Armidale has the bye.
