The centre is also preparing for another event, the annual open day on May 30.
This year’s statewide open day will be the first time the training centre will be open to the public and is aimed at fire prevention.
Armidale Training Centre manager Chris Ridley said the event was a great chance to become better aware of how to prevent house fires.
Sixty per cent of all house fires occur between May and September.
The open day would raise awareness of firefighting and training, Mr Ridley said.
“This is the busiest regional training centre,” he said.
“Most people in Armidale don’t know the centre is here.”
The open day will feature firefighting demonstrations and fire safety presentations.
Information will also be available on how to install smoke alarms, change batteries and create a fire escape plan. There will also be a sausage sizzle and a chance to meet local firefighters. The open day runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, May 30 at 10 Mann Street, Armidale.
