Local trainer Paul Grills celebrated a double in Grafton on Monday with Kingston Time winning the first race, the Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Handicap 2365m, which is also Guyra’s postcode. It was Belinda Lenehan who pointed this out – what a good omen.

Kingston Time races particularly will in Grafton and his win by four lengths was no exception. It was at Grafton where he posted his first win on a day that will always hold special significance for Grills.
“He won his maiden here exactly two years ago and I wasn’t there because I was getting married, and Angela wasn’t here this time, due to her work commitments. Great anniversary present!” Paul said.
“He’s been a consistent horse right through. He used to be consistent at running places; now he’s been consistent in getting the odd win for us.
“I think this is his sixth win in since July, so it’s been a great eight months. Geoffrey Snowden who was riding him is out due to injury and this gave Jodi Worley her third win on him”.
Luna Lang gave Grills and Worley their double in race 8 in the Tracey-Lee Schuhmacker Memorial Handicap 1610 m by one length.
“It was a perfect ride by Jodi. Coming up to the 1000m mark it looked like she was going to get boxed in, however she rode to instructions, stuck to the fence, a gap opened up and they kicked on. It was a good win”. Grills said.
“This is Luna Lang’s third win in as many months. All our horses are working and racing well”.
“Both Kingston Time and Luna Lang are last start winners; this is the first time I have had horses with back to back wins and for both horses to win here was an added bonus,” Grills commented.
“In race 2, Dusty’s Felt finish fourth by 1.2 lengths, which was a great result seeing he hasn’t raced for over two months due to a foot problem.
“I needed to see how he would go and have him ready for the Armidale Cup. I am hoping to race all three of these horses in the cup and starting Beyond Infinity in the Guyra Cup”, Grills said.
