Kolora residents and staff experienced a week of activities, including a visit from “Old McDonalds Farm”, guest speakers, craft, puzzles, guessing competition, raffle and themed morning teas.
Our dining room was decorated with pictures of animals which promoted conversations between the residents about their own livestock experiences on the land or previous pets they had reared.
On September 29 ”Old McDonald’s Farm” visited Kolora for an interactive experience, including bottle feeding and nurturing the baby animals.
On September 30 Father Anthony was guest speaker and talked about the role of his companion dog “Crackers” and the role “Crackers” had previously played as a guide dog. Father Anthony also informed the residents that World Animal Day is the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
Sandra Hutton also spoke about the adoption of her koala “Westhaven Barry” from Port Macquarie Koala hospital. The hospital is a rescue, rehabilitation and research centre for injured koalas who are returned to their home range upon full recovery.
I would like to thank the Kolora staff for their input, enthusiasm and help.
