However the rep honours for the Opens teams to compete at CIS were more broadly shared, with students from four schools named making up the squads. These included, for the hosts, five TAS players Isaiah Ruming, Louis Cannington, Mehdi Ahsan, Ryan Oschadleus and Sam Bourke selected for the boys' teams, and Anouska Byrne and Brook Riggall from TAS in the girls' team.
Director of Co-curricular Mr Huon Barrett said hosting the NCIS Football Championships allowed TAS to contribute to the association's sporting fixtures, which are also held at Ballina, Lismore, Grafton and Coffs Harbour.
He said the championships also provided an opportunity for all students to play some quality inter-school football, given they, and many other school teams, otherwise play in local competitions against club teams which include adults," he said.
The participating schools were: The Armidale School, Bishop Druitt College Coffs Harbour, Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School Tweed Heads, Emmanuel Anglican College Ballina, Clarence Valley Anglican School Grafton, Living School, Lismore and Kempsey Adventist School.
